FirstSearch is like a powerful search engine specifically designed for libraries. It helps patrons and library staff find books and other resources from thousands of libraries worldwide. It's a tool that makes it easy to discover the information you need, no matter where it's located.

FirstSearch enables Lewis & Clark Library to participate in interlibrary loan by sharing our collection with other libraries and vice versa. This service connects to Clio, our other interlibrary loan platform, and imports information about an item you want into Clio where you place the request. Without FirstSearch, we wouldn't know if other libraries are willing to lend us items for you to use.

Remember, you have to look up, and select an item to ILL, in FirstSearch first, then use Clio to finish your ILL submission. See our FAQ on how to request an ILL for more information.
