Our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service is a great way to borrow materials that we don't have from other libraries around the country. And it's free for you!

Restrictions on who can use our ILL service:

  • Cardholders must be in good standing (i.e. no blocks on accounts due to fines from lost materials).
  • Temporary cardholders are not able to use our interlibrary loan service.
  • Effective January 1, 2026, our Interlibrary Loan service is not available for Lewis & Clark Library cardholders who live outside of Lewis & Clark County as aligned with our Interlibrary Loan Policy, amended June 17, 2025, which can be found on the Policies page of our website.
  • Beginning December 1, 2025, no new ILL requests will be processed for out-of-county patrons.
  • If you live outside of Lewis and Clark County but pay property taxes within the county, you will continue to be eligible for ILL services. Please let us know if this applies to you, we can make a note on your account so that you can continue to place ILL requests.
